Elizabeta Samara and Daniela Dodean won the gold medal in the women’s double competition at the LIEBHERR European Championships in Stuttgart. The young Rumanians succeeded 4:0 against the Italian combination Nikoleta Stefanova and Wenling Tan and celebrated their first big European title in the doubles. For the Italians, however, it was the second loss in a final in a row after their defeat at the European Championships in St. Petersburg last year. more »
In a very lopsided match between current titleholder Timo Boll and his challenger Pär Gerell from Sweden, the German number one seed easily won his quarter final at the 2009 LIEBHERR European Championships with 4:0. Boll dominated from the start and didn’t give the DTTL player from TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen any chance to get into the match. Nearly every good ball from Gerell was returned with an even better stroke, so Boll’s win never was at risk. more »
